Myrtle Beach Condos Benefit from New Oceanfront Boardwalk
Thursday, May 20th, 2010Standing on the oceanfront property that once was home to the Myrtle Beach Pavilion, city and chamber dignitaries ushered in a new era on Saturday, May15, 2010 with a dedication ceremony for a newly built Boardwalk – an amenity destined to become the new signature reference point for “downtown” Myrtle Beach!

Winding along the beachfront, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade curves around the dunes as it flows by hotels, condominium towers, shops, bars and restaurants, enticing tourists and locals alike to stroll or rest on convenient benches as they enjoy spectacular ocean views. The section from the 14th Avenue North Pier to 4th Avenue North opened Easter Weekend. The remaining portion, extending south to the 2nd Avenue Pier is scheduled to open June 15. Area merchants are excited to have a new “front door” to their oceanfront properties and several restaurants are opening sidewalk cafes. The Hoffman Group is pleased that some of the oceanfront condominium towers offering Myrtle Beach condos for sale will also benefit from the Boardwalk including Holiday Pavilion, Bay View, Oceans One and Sandy Beach.
Designed by DDC engineers, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, work began in September, 2009. Contractor M.B. Kahn of Conway kept about 35 employees and subcontractors busy during the winter months to stay on schedule for the 1.2 mile project costing $6 million.

The boardwalk comes in three distinct sections, each with its own “personality.” North is a raised wooden sidewalk with landscaping; central will be busy along the retail section that will feature sidewalk cafes; south will be a promenade equipped with park benches. Period lighting adds ambience while sailcloth canopies take full advantage of the ocean breezes!
The dedication was part of the 1st Annual Beach Music Festival featuring renowned beach music bands including The Embers, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, and Billy Scott and the Party Prophets. Another highlight was the cutting and enjoying of a huge “flip-flop” cake designed by television master chef Buddy Valastro of TLC’s “The Cake Boss.”
Everyone who misses the Pavilion, needs to come check out the Boardwalk. Everyone who has never been to Myrtle Beach needs to put the Boardwalk on their must-do agenda!
